The method is most effective with a disease duration of slightly more than 3 years

Indications:

1. Limitation of the strength and range of movements in the limbs.

2. Pronounced sensory and autonomic disorders.

Procedure technique:

A course of membrane plasmapheresis is usually carried out 2-3 times a week until improvement sets in, followed by a gradual reduction in the frequency of the procedures over several months (once a week, once every 10 days and so on). The volumes removed per procedure are 35-40 ml of plasma per 1/kg of the patient's body weight. Replacement is carried out with isotonic sodium chloride solution, rheopolyglucin solutions and 5% albumin in a ratio of 1: 1,1 in an isovolemic mode. Heparin is usually used as an anticoagulant.

Plasmapheresis can be performed in combination with corticosteroids, the doses of which vary within wide limits (on average 1 mg/kg of body weight every other day).

Efficacy criteria:

1. Increase in the strength and range of movements in the limbs.

2. Reduction of sensory and autonomic disorders.
